Anari Priest of Scaetha

Gavik is a brawny priest of Scaethea God 0f the Dead. In taking his vow as a Novice he swore to help rid the world of the Undead souls that escaped the underworld.

In joining this group he saw his chance to get out into the world. His hirsute nature (long blond hair and full beard) and large size is intimidating to some but in reality he is a overly cautious bear of a man utterly devoted to his friends and ridding the world of undead.

Gavik began his path to the priesthood of Scaethea the day his small town was visited with death in the form of several undead that rose from the local cemetery. His father was killed before him before the village guards were able to destroy the undead. The local priest of Scaethea took him in as a acolyte and taught him the way of the priesthood.

When he reached the level of Novice he decided he did not want to be a priest that only officiated over death but wanted a more proactive role in defeating the forces of the undead. So he took to the road and was lead to his first adventure in a small hamlet called Dunross on the simple mission of collecting grain and delivering it so that others would be fed during the long winter. This was soon interrupted by a small furry foe, and some not so small in the form of Rats a few as large as small ponies.

They escaped the onslaught but had to watch as the village burned and almost all the villagers but the 4 we saved were killed and the village destroyed.

On to Dalsetter although what awaits we do not know….

Dalsetter was uneventful until we met with the owner Penda of the #1 grainery in Dunross. He initially protested his innocence until told of the deaths that occurred. He then told of a man in black with buck teeth that approached him with a proposition on several occasions to either become fabulously wealthy or the savior of the area by having the only flour available. The conversation was interrupted by several orcs and large rats who were raiding his grain storage to poison it when the one grain storage building was destroyed by Emeric (amazing what happens when fire hits a room filled with flour dust) killing 1 orc and all three rats and wounding the last orc who was captured and interrogated. Our goody two shoes Mage Lord then decided to let him go when he should have faced the judgment of Scaethea. Malac ran to get the mayor and that ended the session…

The next session was scheduled for 2/21 then 2/22 and only Gavik and Emeric showed up. The session began as the last session left off with the arrival of the Mayor and the town guards. The flour was secured and the players joined the mayor at his office to fill him in on all the details of what occurred. It was decided not to smear Pendas name but the town confiscated all the flour for the good of the region and his goodman was arrested to be judged by the clerics who handle such things. It was decided that the buck toothed individual was most likely a cleric of the vermin lord and in residence at a long abandoned tower to the north of town based on the information Lord Emeric was able to extract from the orc. Gavik and Emeric agreed with the mayor that this needed to be ended asap. Penda was given a proper burial overseen by Gavik and the crew including Malac(npc) and Emeric and two town guards headed north as the mayor send a rider to try and intercept our friends and send them our way to help out. As we neared the tower we were beset by orcs. The first rounds went well but as more orcs joined the fray the two guardmen soon fell with fatal wounds and Gavik was sorely beset while Emeric continued to cast a single spell for 5 rounds. (needed the bonus as the previous attempts had failed miserably.) Finally after Gavik has recieved 3 wounds and was stunned our Lord mage finally released his spell devastating the three orcs in a single round. Malac had run after the orcs to the west as we delt with the orcs to the east and north. After healing, Gavik blessed and buried the two guardsmen and they set off to thee west following the tracks Malac left behind in his pursuit of the orcs.

Thus ended the session. The final stage of the lair of the vermin lord is yet to come.
